Uploading videos to YouTube and maintaining a vlog is no longer a novelty. Nowadays, live streaming is the latest trend and there is already a good number of websites out there which provide this service. There are also various applications you can use to stream videos, webcam feeds, a live view of your desktop and more. This is the kind of functionality you can expect from Wirecast. The software is capable of broadcasting to many popular streaming services, from mostly any source. It also gives you many useful controls, to customize your stream and to switch between different sources on the fly.

Wirecast is free to try, with only a few minor limitations. Downloading and installing the program is not a challenging task and it doesn't take long to complete. You can use Wirecast on any modern Windows platform, without installing any prerequisite tools, but you should not rely on modest hardware to stream your videos.

Despite Wirecast's rich functionality, its user interface is fairly simple. It displays a live view of your broadcast, as well as a preview, which can help you prepare other contents for streaming. You can set up several streaming sources in the lower region of the interface. If your connection to a streaming service is properly configured, you can simply select a media source and click a button to stream it.

As previously mentioned, the software allows you to stream videos, still images and audio files from your local folders, a live feed from your webcam and microphone, as well as a live view of your screen. If you opt for the screen, you can choose to stream your desktop, a specific window or footage from a game. What's more, Wirecast allows you to broadcast from several sources at the same time, on separate layers. You may click and drag individual sources to different layers, if you wish to place them on top or below other elements.

Wirecast provides full support for a wide range of streaming services, including Twitch, Limelight, Ustream and many others. You can set up and save all the connection details, including your login credentials, for multiple services, on a separate window. This gives you the possibility of switching between services right away, without any effort.

Pros

You can live stream media files, your desktop, a webcam's feed and more. The software allows you to stream multiple elements at once, on separate layers. The best part is that it supports all popular streaming services.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention. Regardless of what you intend to stream over the Internet, Wirecast can make your work more comfortable and much easier.
